Catastrophic rains cause historic flooding in New York's Hudson Valley

-
The Hudson Valley in New York was hit by heavy rains that have caused catastrophic flooding, prompting a state of emergency and leaving several people missing.

Collapsed roads, destroyed houses and thousands of people without electricity are some of the consequences of this natural catastrophe.

A woman was killed as she tried to leave her home with her dog in the Hudson Valley, swept away by a flash flood, multiple media reported.

Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in Orange County, northwest of New York City, and Ontario County, in the center of the state, noting that up to 200mm of rain had created ‘life-threatening conditions due to flash flooding’.
