Hurricane Polo, currently moving across the Pacific Ocean, to reach the highest level, Category 5

 Hurricane Polo, currently moving across the Pacific Ocean, has strengthened to reach the highest level, Category 5, on the Saffir-Simpson scale, Mexico's National Water Commission (Conagua) reported.

 According to the agency, the center of the storm is currently located 355 km south of Zihuatanejo (Guerrero state) and 580 km southeast of Manzanillo (Colima state). Maximum sustained winds are reaching 259.2 km/h, with gusts of up to 315 km/h.

The weather system increases the likelihood of heavy rains (75 to 150 mm) in the states of Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, as well as very heavy rains in the state of Jalisco. 

Waves of 3 to 4 meters in height are forecast along the coastal areas of Michoacán and Guerrero.
