Flights grounded across Britain after air traffic control failure

Hundreds of flights have reportedly been cancelled across the UK following a major technical failure affecting Britain’s air traffic control system.

According to The Telegraph , equipment at NATS headquarters in Swanwick has failed, disrupting controllers responsible for managing aircraft across UK airspace.

Arrivals into London Heathrow and Gatwick have been halted until at least 7 p.m., with disruption also reported at Manchester, Stansted, London City, Birmingham, East Midlands and Belfast City airports.

The cause of the technical failure has not yet been established.
