Another typhoon approaches Japan’s Okinawa, moving towards Tokyo

  Another typhoon is approaching the southwestern Japanese island prefecture of Okinawa and is moving northeast towards the main Japanese island of Honshu, where Tokyo is located, according to the national meteorological office.

Currently, the epicenter of Typhoon Surigae* is located south of Okinawa and is moving at a speed of about 10 km per hour. The typhoon may intensify as it moves forward.

Under the influence of the typhoon, heavy rains are forecast even in the Kanto region, where the capital prefecture of Tokyo is located.

On September 20, another typhoon, Dujuan, passed along the central part of the Pacific coast of Japan, killing 12 people. Four more went missing, and significant damage was caused to agricultural lands; about a thousand residential buildings were damaged.
