At least 54 people were killed and 227 others injured during the last 24 hours in rain-related accidents across Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Thursday.
The media wing of the NDMA told Xinhua that the majority of the accidents took place in the eastern Punjab province after a powerful rain and windstorm swept across the province.
The rain caused widespread destruction, with the worst-affected areas being Lahore and Faisalabad districts of the province, said the NDMA, adding that the majority of the killings occurred due to the falling of walls and roofs.
