Nearly 500,000 people affected by floods in India
At least 496 thousand residents of the Indian state of Assam were in the flood zone due to incessant downpours. This was announced on Friday, June 23, by the local disaster management agency (ASDMA).
There is also information about one dead. Over the past 24 hours, flood waters have broken through ten dams and damaged three more, washed out almost a hundred roads, and destroyed three bridges. The state has opened 83 temporary accommodation camps and 79 aid distribution points.
According to available information, 1366 settlements were flooded, more than 14 thousand hectares of agricultural land. In addition, there are about 350 thousand heads of livestock in the disaster area.
