Deadly Flash Floods Ravage Indonesian Island

Indonesian rescuers combed through rubble in search of survivors Friday, November 5, after flash floods ravaged Java Island, killing at least eight people.

Fatal landslides and flash floods are common across southeastern Asia during the rainy season.

The disasters are often caused by deforestation and poor mitigation planning, according to environmentalists. (AFP)
