Australia : ‘Harsh reality’ is mouse poison will kill some native wildlife

 --

NSW Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall says the “harsh reality” is some native wildlife will be killed by the poison used to combat the mouse plague since the government has “very limited tools” to deal with the mice.

The state government has announced it will top up its support package for farmers affected by the mouse plague with an additional $100 million.

Primary producers will be able to claim a 50 per cent rebate of up to $10 for zinc phosphide bait, which will be used at double strength, and the scheme will be backdated to purchases made since February 1.
