The death toll in a new series of earthquakes in Japan has exceeded 10. Rescue operations under way

As a result a new series of earthquakes occurred in southwest Japan in the night of Saturday, 16 April, killing 11 people, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the NHK broadcast. Another 760 people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

The earthquake two-storey dormitory building of the agricultural faculty of the University of Tokai in the village of Minami-ASO collapsed so that the first floor was completely crushed by the second floor. From Kumamoto 44 evacuated thousands of people, tens of thousands remained without water and electricity, reports TASS.

April 14, in the Kumamoto area were recorded earthquakes with magnitude of 6.4. Authorities reported nine killed, more than a thousand people were injured. Homes were destroyed in the area of emergency fires.
