The death toll in a new series of earthquakes in Japan has exceeded 10. Rescue operations under way

As a result a new series of earthquakes occurred in southwest Japan in the night of Saturday, 16 April, killing 11 people, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the NHK broadcast. Another 760 people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

7.0 magnitude earthquake strikes Japan again. Tsunami warning issued by authorities (Depth 10 km)

A day after nine people were killed in an earthquake that struck a city in Japan, the countries is hit by a new and powerful earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale. Tsunami warning has been issued by the authorities in Japan with waves of up to 1m (3ft) possible.

Death toll rises to 9 after strong quakes hit Kumamoto, SW Japan

Local police confirmed that nine people were killed after powerful quakes hit Kumamoto Prefecture in southwestern Japan at late Thursday and early Friday, while over 400 people were taken to hospitals.

Japan: Magnitude-6.4 earthquake strikes Kumamoto and surrounding areas; reports of damage, injuries emerging (Depth 15 km)

A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 struck Kumamoto Prefecture and surrounding areas in Kyushu Thursday evening, the Meteorological Agency said. No tsunami warning was issued.
