‘No possibility’ of finding more Nepal quake survivors

Nepal's government ruled out the possibility Saturday of finding more survivors buried in the rubble from last weekend's massive earthquake as it announced the death toll had risen to 6,621.

UN allocates $15 million in emergency funds for Nepal earthquake response

UN,  28 April 2015 In response to severe devastation caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake and many strong aftershocks that have hit Nepal since 25 April, the United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator today released $15 million through the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to enable humanitarian aid organizations to rapidly scale up operations and provide immediate assistance to people in desperate need.

22 ΜΑΡΤΙΟΥ/Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Νερού: 1.800 παιδιά πεθαίνουν κάθε μέρα λέει η UNICEF

Περίπου 2.000 παιδιά ηλικίας κάτω των πέντε ετών πεθαίνουν κάθε μέρα σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο από διαρροϊκές ασθένειες και από αυτούς τους θανάτους περίπου 1.800 συνδέονται με το νερό και την υγιεινή.

Τα παραπάνω επισημαίνει σε ανακοίνωσή της η UNICEF, με αφορμή τον εορτασμό της Παγκόσμιας Ημέρας Νερού, που είναι στις 22 Μαρτίου, και καλεί τις κυβερνήσεις, την κοινωνία των πολιτών και τους πολίτες να θυμούνται ότι πίσω από τα στατιστικά στοιχεία βρίσκονται τα πρόσωπα των παιδιών.
