A small island has emerged in Lake Zurich as the water level has fallen to a historic low, Swissinfo reported Monday.
The island is located off the coast of Stäfa, a Swiss town on the lake’s eastern shore.
Under normal conditions, only a rock known as the Stäfner Stein can be seen at the site.
The lake’s water level currently stands at 405.24 meters (1,329 feet) above sea level, allowing the small land formation to rise above the surface.
Although the island is small, it is large enough for a small boat to moor and for people to stop for a picnic.
The island was last visible 74 years ago, when Lake Zurich recorded its previous major low water level.
It had also emerged in 1909 during a period of exceptionally low water levels.
