It has been raining in Tokyo for 34 consecutive days. This is a record in the history of meteorological observations

raining in Tokyo for 34 consecutive days

Precipitation began in the Japanese capital on August 27 and has continued ever since.

This marks the longest continuous spell of rain since 1886, when meteorologists began keeping official records.

Forecasters attribute this anomaly to a series of typhoons that passed near Japan in September.

The rain is not expected to finally stop until early October.
