Yakutia, Russia: Abnormal frosts with temperatures -65 °C and ice fog, 7 degrees below normal

 In one of the mountainous regions of Yakutia on Sunday morning the temperature was minus 65 degrees. Most of the region is now frost below minus 55 °C .

Meteorologists state abnormal frosts. The average daily temperature in Yakutia is 7 degrees below normal.

Tonight, the air temperature in Yakutia will drop below -50 degrees. According to the local department for hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring, on the day of January 15, weather forecasters expect from -48 to -50 degrees and from -50 to -52 at night.

According to forecasts, on January 14-18, abnormally cold weather is expected in Yakutia, a decrease in the average daily air temperature below the climatic norm by seven degrees or more.

The day before, on Saturday, classes for schoolchildren were canceled in Yakutsk due to cold weather. According to meteorologists, on Sunday the city is mostly without precipitation, fog, light wind.

In the coming days, frosts down to minus 60 degrees are expected in 19 districts of the republic.
