Overfishing plays havoc with ecosystems in South Africa

In SouthAfrica, the abandonment of more than 1,700 baby Cape cormorants off the coast of CapeTown back in January has got scientists worried.

 It's thought the chicks were abandoned by their parents because of diminishing fish stocks, with the adults forced to migrate in order to survive

. Overfishing has been disastrous for local ecosystems in Southern Africa, but reeling in the fishing industry is no easy task. 

The sector generates €335 million per year and employs close to 30,000 people.
