Hurricane Matthew leaves 11 dead on path toward U.S.

Hurricane Matthew roared toward the southern Bahamas early Wednesday after leaving behind widespread destruction in Haiti and as forecasters predicted it would reach Florida's Atlantic Coast and South Carolina later this week.

UNESCO approved a Russian resolution on the restoration of Palmyra

The Executive Board of UNESCO approved the proposed by Russia resolution on the issue of conservation and restoration of Palmyra and other cultural sites in Syria. As reported TASS in the Secretariat of an international organization, the initiative was approved unanimously.

UN culture agency says Hatra destruction shows 'contempt' for history, heritage of Arab people

In a statement to the OPCW Executive Council on Friday 29 November 2013, Director-General Ahmet Üzümcü announced that the United States has offered to contribute a destruction technology, full operational support and financing to neutralise Syria’s priority chemicals, which are to be removed from the country by 31 December.

OPCW Executive Council adopts plan for the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons programme in the first half of 2014

• Most critical chemicals to leave Syria by end of 2013 
• Over 60 percent of unfilled warheads and bombs destroyed

The OPCW Executive Council (EC) approved today a detailed plan of destruction to eliminate Syria’s chemical weapons stockpile. In the plan, Syrian chemical weapons will be transported for destruction outside its territory to ensure their destruction in the “safest and soonest manner”, and no later than June 30th 2014. 
“I welcome the decision reached today by the Executive Council,” said OPCW Director General Ahmet Ümzücü.
