World's richest 10% produce half of carbon emissions

The world's richest 10 percent produce around half of all carbon emissions, while the poorest half of the world's population - 3.5 billion people - is responsible for just 10 percent of carbon emissions, despite being the most threatened by the catastrophic storms, droughts, and other severe weather shocks linked to climate change, according to a new Oxfam report, released during the ongoing climate talks in Paris.

‘Shameful’: World loses up to third of produced food, World Bank says

The world loses a staggering one-quarter to one-third of all food produced for human consumption, according to the World Bank’s quarterly Food Price Watch report, with the developed world leading the wastage.
The world is losing 25 to 33 percent of the food it produces – nearly 4 billion metric tons - according to estimates from the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Association (FAO) and the World Resources Institute.
In regions suffering from malnourishment, such as Africa and South East Asia, this translates as 400 to 500 calories per person per day and in the developed world up to 1,520 calories.

ΥΠΕΚΑ: Συνάντηση του Υπουργού ΠΕΚΑ, Γιάννη Μανιάτη, με στελέχη της Παγκόσμιας Τράπεζας και της Task Force

ΥΠΕΚΑ, Αθήνα, 28 Αυγούστου 2013

Συνάντηση με υψηλόβαθμα στελέχη της Παγκόσμιας Τράπεζας (World Bank) και της Ομάδας Τεχνικής Βοήθειας της ΕΕ για την Ελλάδα (Task Force) είχε ο Υπουργός Περιβάλλοντος, Ενέργειας και Κλιματικής Αλλαγής, Γιάννης Μανιάτης, σήμερα Τετάρτη 28 Αυγούστου, στο ΥΠΕΚΑ.
 
Στο επίκεντρο της συζήτησης βρέθηκε η πορεία και υλοποίηση του προγράμματος τεχνικής βοήθειας που εδώ και ένα χρόνο η Παγκόσμια Τράπεζα σε συνεργασία με την Task Force παρέχουν στην Ελλάδα σχετικά με την βελτίωση του επιχειρηματικού κλίματος και επενδυτικών ευκαιριών.
