Συνάντηση με Λαφαζάνη Ζητά η SOCAR για τον ΔΕΣΦΑ

Συνάντηση με τον υπουργό Παραγωγικής Ανασυγκρότησης και Ενέργειας Παναγιώτη Λαφαζάνη ζήτησαν οι εκπρόσωποι της κρατικής εταιρίας Φυσικού Αερίου του Αζερμπαϊτζάν (SOCAR), με σκοπό να μάθουν τα σχέδια της νέας κυβέρνησης για την ιδιωτικοποίηση του ΔΕΣΦΑ.
Οι Αζέροι ζητούν να μάθουν από τον νέο υπουργό, τις προθέσεις της νέας κυβέρνησης για το αν ισχύει η πώληση του πλειοψηφικού πακέτου των μετοχών από το ελληνικό δημόσιο προς την SOCAR ή αν έχει ανατραπεί η πράξη μεταβίβασης. ...

Mountain-Sized, 500-Meter-Wide Asteroid to Whizz By Earth on Monday

An asteroid, designated 2004 BL86, is set to pass near Earth on Monday, according to NASA.

The 500-meter-wide rock may seem apocalyptic in size, but thankfully it will pass no closer than 1.2 million kilometers of our planet — about three times the distance between Earth and the moon. The agency says it will provide a rare opportunity to get a good look at a near-Earth asteroid.

Service module of China's lunar orbiter enters moon's orbit

The service module of China's unmanned test lunar orbiter successfully decelerated, allowing it to enter an 8-hour orbit on Sunday, according to the Beijing Aerospace Control Center.

Following instructions from the center, the service module conducted the braking at around 3 a.m. and entered the 8-hour elliptical moon orbit with a perilune of about 200 km and an apolune of about 5,300 km.

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake rocked Luzon (Philippines) at Sunday morning.

The quake’s epicenter was in located 13 kilometers southeast of San Antonio, Zambales with a depth of 85 kilometers said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tremors were also felt in Metro Manila. Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected from the quake although no damage to infrastructure is expected.

US House approves Keystone XL pipeline (266 votes to 153)

The Republican-controlled House approved the Keystone XL oil pipeline easily on Friday, ignoring the recent veto threat against this project from US President Obama.

The House passed the project by 266 votes to 153, the tenth time that the chamber has passed the pro-Keystone legislation. The Senate is set to consider the legislation next week.

Leave coal, oil in ground for climate's sake (study)

The Middle East must leave 40 percent of its oil reserves in the ground, and China, the US and Russia most of their coal if global warming is to be curbed, researchers said Jan. 7.
    
Globally, a third of oil, half of gas and over 80 percent of coal reserves must be left untouched until 2050, according to a novel breakdown of "unburnable" fossil-fuel stocks published in the journal Nature.
